Imphal, October 17 2015 :
All Tribal Disabled Union Manipur (ATDUM) has urged Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam to nominate differently-abled persons in the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) .
ATDUM president Momo Tangtanga and general secretary T Chongsin along with some representatives met Gaikhangam on Saturday and submitted a memorandum to him in this regard.
The memorandum reminded Gaikhangam about the earlier two memorandums submitted to the Government in May this year demanding nomination of disabled persons in the ADCs, Tangtanga said.
There are no District Councils represented by physically challenged people and they should be allowed to take part in the activities of all ADCs in the State, he demanded.
The Government needs to nominate representatives from the deprived section in the ADCs, Tangtanga said.
He said it will be a very difficult job for the disabled to win elections.
He drew the attention of the Government regarding the demand and expressed hope that the Government will consider it.
