Poster contest
Lions Club of Imphal City organised a peace poster contest today at Mega School, Yaralpat.
Ayengbee Wangkheimayum and Teena Thoudam have been awarded the first and second prizes respectively, according to a statement.
The programme was held under the International Association of Lions Club's theme, 'Share Peace' .
Hole on bridge
Hole has opened up on a bridge that connects Khoijuman and Kwaksiphai in Bishnupur due to rusting of the bridge's steel backing.
Locals said that accidents have occurred frequently along the bridge due to the hole.
The locals appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest.
For the time being, the locals have now taken up temporary maintenance measures.
Power shutdown
11 KV RIMS feeder will be under shutdown on Oct 19 from 8am to 4 pm for installation of GO for preventive maintenance at LSD-I gate and others.
As such, RIMS and its surrounding areas will not get power during the period mentioned, a statement issued by MSPDCL official said.
Snake bite victim saved
The medical team of 12 Bihar of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) saved the life of a snake bite victim yesterday.
The victim namely Kongkham Nilamani Singh (37) of Nambol Maibam Chingmang in Bishnupur district was brought to the medical room of 12 Bihar in a critical condition after he was bitten by a snake.
The victim was administered anti-snake venom injections, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
Dengue
Blood samples of 40 Dengue suspected patients of Chura-chandpur have been sent to JNIMS for testing today.
At the same time, the number of confirmed Dengue cases has reached 31, according to reports received from the State Health Dept.
Rally organised
As part of the ongoing 3-day fashion event "Eyong Gi Tantha", models participating in the mega event took out a campaign rally to save Sangai and Loktak Lake today.
18 models will be showcasing traditional attires of Manipur during a fashion parade tomorrow at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.
Annual inter-school sports meet
The annual inter-school sports meet organised by the Kuki Students' Organisation, Moreh was successfully held from October 12 to October 15 .
12 schools participated in different competitions which were classified into two categories.
Prize distribution session was also held during the valedictory programme.
