Regarding the allegation of denial of PDS items to a beneficiary, Wangjing Hodamba Development Committee convenor A Chandra has clarified that the incident happened due to a misunderstanding and communication gap.
Speaking to reporters, Chandra said that the committee had looked into the matter after reports of denial of PDS items at Wangjing were published in some sections of the media.
He said that Ward No 9 PDS agent Adhikarimayum Sanjoy had never denied PDS item to any beneficiary but asked the family of Kongbram Manitombi to send a responsible adult instead of minors to collect the PDS items after 34/9 Mahila Election Committee resolved not to give PDS materials to any families who send minors.
He further clarified that Manitombi's claim of denying her kerosene share by the agent for attending a function of Hijam Irabot organised by CPI at Wangjing Hodamba community hall on September 18 was false.
He said that there is no restriction in collecting PDS share by Manitombi.
However, people must restrain from having two voter identity cards by a single person to claim more PDS benefits.
He also said that Manitombi's husband Kongbram Kumar is a Government employee.
