UMLA celebrates 10th Rising Day

The United Minorities Liberation Army (UMLA), a constituent armed UG group of Kuki National Organisation (KNO), today celebrated its 10th rising day at Hermon Camp located at Chehlep village under Tengnoupal subdivision of Chandel district.
Paying obeisance and showing solidarity to departed leaders and cadres of the outfit and other activities marked the raising day celebration.
Peter Mate, under secretary (Home) of KNO and other leaders of constituent units of the organisation, neighbouring villagers, chiefs, Church leaders, CSO leaders and public attended the programme.

Addressing the gatherings, C-in-C of UMLA, K Khaling said the outfit was formed on Oct 17, 2006 under his leadership.
The outfit was raised for the minority communities who are discriminated and suppressed under colonial regime down the decades, he said.
UMLA has educated the minority communities on their right to life and preservation of their identities, Khaling said.
The outfit also encouraged the minorities to live in peaceful coexistence with their neighbours.
UMLA has opened its Maring Region recently.
The C-in-C urged all concerned not to intrude into the jurisdiction of the newly opened region in the interest of the tribal in general and the minority communities in particular.
