JDDC calls 28-hr total Jiribam bandh on Nov 3

Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC), Jiribam on Friday called a 28-hour total Jiribam bandh from 8 pm of November 2 till midnight of November 3 as part of its demand on upgrading Jiribam sub-division to a full-fledged Revenue District.
The decision was taken during a public meeting held on Friday at Jiribam Town Hall.
It was further resolved to launch an intense agitation until the JDDC demand was fulfilled.
The meeting was attended by JDDC Chairperson, Jiribam H Mema; former President of All Jiribam United Clubs Association, Jiribam (AJUCA) K Khumanjao and former pradhan Foiz Ahmed as presidium members.
Various civil society organisation leaders, political party leaders and intellectuals also expressed their views during the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, former MLA A Biren said that upgrading Jiribam sub-division into a full-fledged Revenue District has always been a dream of the BJP.
He said BJP Manipur Pradesh President Th Chaoba, during his recent visit to Jiribam, had also promised to make Jiribam into a Revenue District if BJP comes in power in the State.
Speakers at the meeting also expressed that upgrading Jiribam to a Revenue District will not harm the boundaries of other neighbouring districts and they appealed people of other districts not to view their demand in a negative way.
The meeting unanimously resolved to demand declaration of Jiribam into a Revenue District at the earliest.
It was also resolved to make all the local clubs in Jiribam as units of Jiribam District Demand Committee.
