Imphal, June 22 2018:
Joint Students Coordination Committee (JSCC), Manipur has urged the State Government to give more emphasis to developing the condition of Council of Higher Secondary Education following the removal of its Secretary.
A press release issued by the media coordinator of JSCC today mentioned that the still vacant post of COHSEM Secretary has caused various inconveniences and has hindered the administration of the body as well.
It warned that it would not be right for the Government to remove and appoint officials related to education as per its whims or to politicise the education atmosphere of the State.
JSCC further claimed that such abrupt removal of officials related to education sector will have long term negative effect on the education system of the State as any officer needs some time to assess and conceptualise plans and steps for improvement of the sector and the same holds true for other officials who will replace him/her in the future.
Pointing out that JSCC believes the State Government will take the right decision regarding the matter, it urged the authority concerned not to act against the wishes of the association or the people.
On the other hand, JSCC condemned the inclusion of Mahabharat in the history subject for class XII standard conducted by COHSEM and claimed that it is akin to slowly forcing the students towards a specific religion.
Even if the authorities concerned claim that the textbooks are being prepared as per the rules of NCERT, JSCC will not remain silent if any attempt is made to guide the students on a wrong path by manipulating the history and mythology of the region.
Do not turn myths into history, it warned and urged the officials of COHSEM to try and remove the stories of Mahabharat from the textbook at the earliest.
