MLA inspects

Kakching, July 14 2017:
MLA of Kakching AC Yengkhom Surchandra Singh along with officials concerned inspected the paddy fields at Loushi Loukol and the fish farms which have been severely affected by the flash flood.
During the inspection, the MLA stated that nearly 3000 acres of paddy field and 50-60 acres of fish farms have been damaged by the | flood.
Several crops including potato crops have been damaged and now the newly planted rice | are on the verge of total loss, he added.
He further stated that DC, Kakching after discussing with the State Government have extended various aid to the victims and added that relief materials will continue to reach the people as long as the situation remains un-ichanged.
The State Government is also trying to provide the farmers with a rice crop that can be cultivated in three months, he added.
Reports will be submitted to concerned Department and the State Government so that necessary measures can be taken up at the earliest, he asserted.
Kakching Municipal Council Chairperson M Inakhunbi Devi, Councillors, Deputy Com- missioner, Kakching Neilenthang Telien, SDO, Kakching Anjali Chongtham, Agricul- ture and Fisheries Department officials took part in the inspection.
