Imphal, January 09 2013: The state government of Manipur is gearing up to wipe out all the NSCN-IM camps in Manipur.

This was disclosed by All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president K.T Rahman while addressing the media on Wednesday.

According to the AMUCO president, the Chief Minister had told the civil society leaders today during the meeting that the Manipur government will wipe out all the NSCN-IM camps after proper identification of the camps.

The civil society leaders met the Chief Minister over the December 18 Chandel incident wherein a NSCN-IM cadre identified as Livingstone Anal allegedly molested or assaulted film actress Momoco and opened fire at two other male artistes during a musical concert at Chandel district headquarters.

AMUCO had submitted a memorandum earlier to the State Government demanding dismantling of all the NSCN-IM camps in Manipur.

Meanwhile, the Film Forum Manipur (FFM) and All Manipur State Shumang Leela Council which spearheaded the recent public agitation over the Chandel incident have threatened to resume the public protest after a meeting between the Chief Minister and representatives of the two bodies including other social organizations resulted in a deadlock.

Representatives of FFM, AMSSLC and other NGOs met with Chief Minister O Ibobi at his office here in the afternoon over the Chandel and the Napetpalli molestation incident, but the meeting failed to make any major breakthrough, KT Rahman, president, All Manipur Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), said while addressing a press meet at the office of MSSLC, Palace Compound here.

He said a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister on December 31, 2012 demanding to arrest Livingstone, the NSCN-IM member who allegedly molested actress Momoko and also to punish the culprits involved in the Napetpalli molestation incident.

The representation also mentioned that agitation would resume if the state Government fails to meet the demands within seven days, he said.

The dateline ended January 7, but the leaders of the NGOs met with the Chief Minister on Wednesday after the Government officially invited them for talk, he said.

However, the meeting which lasted for about 45 minutes ended in a stalemate.

Rahaman termed the reassurance of the Chief Minister as unfortunate, threatening that the public protest over the issue will resume.

The AMUCO president further talked about the proposed Alternative Arrangement for the Nagas outside the Government of Manipur pending settlement to the Naga political problem and said that the people should not take it easily as the Government of India is trying to concede the demand to the NSCN-IM before elections to the Nagaland assembly in February this year.

A huge public meeting will be organized in the next two-three days to discuss the matter regarding the Alternative Arrangement, he added.

Leaders of FFM, MSSLC, All Manipur Matam Eshei Kanglup and other NGOs attended the press meet.
