Imphal, January 09 2013:
The JAC of Pattadars Affected by Construction of Road Around Imphal Airport has threatened to close the same road if their due compensation amounts are not paid by January 25 .
Even as Imphal Airport has been expanded and new road built around it, the Government has not paid due compensation of the pattadars whose agricultural fields were affected due to construction of the new road.
Decrying the indifferent attitude of the Government towards the plight of affected pattadars, a JAC has been constituted and it has decided to block the road if their genuine demand is not addressed at the earliest.
Revenue Department issued a notification on February 26, 2010 after identifying the areas affected by construction of the road but due compensation has not been paid even though it has been three years since the notification was issued.
The affected pattadars include 45 from Malom Tuliyaima, 15 from Kodompokpi, 25 from Mongshangei and two from Sangaiprou.
Due compensation should be paid together with monetary value of the average paddy produce of the affected fields for the last three years otherwise the JAC would go with its decision to block the road, said JAC secretary Loken Sanasam.
