Speaker, Dy Speaker, orgns extend Ningol Chakouba greetings

Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshwar Singh has extended his warm greetings to all the Manipuris on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakouba which falls on November 13, Friday.
The age-old festival of Manipur has been observed since time immemorial and this occasion strengthens the ties between brothers and sisters, said the Speaker's message and wished that the festival will spread the bond of love among various communities in the State.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker, MK Preshow Shimray also greeted the people of Manipur on the "happy and auspicious" occasion of Ningol Chakouba.
"Let the spirit of fraternity on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakouba, the greatest feast of the families and friends of Manipur be spread out in the minds of the people with love and compassion and bind family ties ever greater," said a message issued by MK Preshow Shimray.
He prayed the celebration of the festival will strengthen love and unity among all communities living in Manipur.
All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) has also greeted all Manipuris living in the State and other parts of the world on the occasion of Ningol Chakouba festival.
A press note released by AMESCO said that the organisation in association with All Manipur Art and Culture Students' Union (AMACSU), Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Nat Kanba Lup will celebrate this year's Ningol Chakouba on November 13, Friday at Kangla fort.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Minister Abdul Nassir, MLA TN Haokip and RK Anand will be the presidium members on the celebration.
AMESCO has appealed all to come along with their respective invitation cards and requested to wear only traditional attires.
The organisation further appealed all to enter the Kangla fort only from the gate of near Sanjenthong Bridge on the day.
United Committee Manipur (UCM) has also extended its warm greetings to all the Manipuris on the occasion of Ningol Chakouba festival, which plays a big role in the State's integration.
During the reign of Meidingu Nongda Lairen Pakhangba, Laisana, Pakhangba's wife, invited her brother Poireiton for a feast.
But instead of sisters' inviting their brothers, brothers started inviting their sisters for the feasts since the reign of Meidingu Chandrakriti and the tradition continued till today, said UCM.
The committee further called upon the people to shun unwanted gambling activities which destroy the true meaning of the festival and appealed all to avoid competitions on presenting gifts.
