Puya Meithaba observance concludes

Puya Mei Thakhibagi Apunba Ningsing Lup (PUMANIL) held a Puya Mei Thagkhiba memorial and a State level painting competition at Leimayol Art Centre, Chingamakhong today marking the end of its month long 283rd Puwarigi Amamba Numit observance.
Attending as the chief guest, MLA Dr Ng Bijoy said burning the ancient scriptures (Puya) is the most unfortunate event in the history of Manipur.
He also lauded PUMANIL and other organisations for taking keen interest in the history of the State.
United Committee Manipur president Elangbam Johnson said the burning of the Puyas has caused dissonance to the communal harmony of the State.
The UCM president maintained that the present discord among different communities of the State would have been lessened if the Puyas were preserved.
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president Dr Y Mani Khuman, PUMANIL convener Chandramani Khumancha, chairman Lainingba Mangi, ACOAM Lup president Kh Somorendro, KANGLAMEI president Leirik Leima, KIL president Sanahanbi, Panthoibi Sindam Shanglen president L Dhananjoy, SEACO working president L Achoubi Khuman, IPSA president Chingkhei Luwang, PANDM president Y Dillip Kumar, IPAK chairman Sapamcha Jadumani, CCSK president Arjun Telheiba, LAC president S Tomba, CLK chief advisor A Langdon Leima, and UCM consultative member H Ibotombi Khuman attended the closing event.
Prizes were also distributed to winners of painting and debate competitions held as part of the month-long observance later in the day.
Artistes of Leimoyon Art Centre also staged Nongkhrang Eruppa at the event.
