Imphal, November 11 2015:
An RCC bridge constructed under PMGSY at Phouden Keirambi of Wangkhem AC, Thoubal district was inaugurated today.
The inauguration programme was attended by Parliamentary Secretary (IPR and Minor Irrigation), Keisham Meghachandra; VP of Wangkhem BCC and retired lecturer L Babudhon; member of Ward No 17, Thoubal Municipal Council Sorokhaibam Ibomcha; president of Phouden Keirambi Polling Station Committee M Ranjit and president of Phouden Keirambi YC T Naba as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, K Meghachandra said Phouden Keirambi remains the most backward area under Thoubal Municipal Council.
Due to its isolated location, people of the area face many difficulties.
The RCC bridge inaugurated today, although a small one, will serve great purposes, he said.
Meghachandra added that the bridge will not only shorten the distance between Phouden Keirambi and Imphal or Thoubal, but also shorten the way to the historically important place Kaina Laiphamlen.
He further said that he had constructed RCC bridge at Yairipok, Babu bazar, Haokha and Kiyam during his stint as the MLA of Wangkhem AC for eight years.
Meghachandra said that the incident at his residence on Nov 2 where two persons died in an IED blast was not the handiworks of militant groups but an act aimed to target people through hired killers.
Had the incident been related to extortion or threat, the perpetrators might have used hand grenade.
The use of powerful explosive, meant to be used in battle field, at public places testifies that the incident was aimed to target lives, he said.
