Three days management development prog starts

Institute of Cooperative Management, Imphal, under the sponsorship of NABARD RO Manipur, kick-started a 3 days management development programme for the Board of Directors of Primary agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS) at the conference hall of ICM Lamphelpat today.
Manipur State Cooperative Union president L Tompishak Singh and Principal Scientist CSIR, North East Institute of Science and Technology, Dr H Birkumar Singh attended the event as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the programme, L Tompishak said that food if very important for survival and one cannot survive without food.
This year is an extremely unfortunate year when to comes to agriculture sector of Manipur as the State is currently facing extreme drought due to lack of rainfall.
Nowadays, a kg of rice costs around Rs 50 and this year, due to the drought, the price will only increase.
This is an extremely dangerous situation, he said.
He continued that the Government has declared the State as drought hit but it is important to discuss what the Government has actually done for easing the difficulties faced by the farmers.
On the other hand, it is also important for the farmers to scope out integrated farming, he added.
ICM Imphal Director Dr N Ranjana and Programme Coordinator ICM Imphal, K Joychandra were also present at the event.
