Committee reiterates regularisation of prices for commodities and produces

Mao Market will be opened at Social Reformer Club, Khurai Puthiba community hall tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons at Khurai Puthiba community hall today, Mao-Imphal Market Coordinating Committee chairman Bessii Phoze Mao said that the committee, in collaboration with Coordinating Body Khurai and Social Reformer Club Khurai Puthiba, will organise Mao Keithel at the community hall from 5 am to 4 pm tomorrow.
Bessii then appealed to one and all to come and experience the market and its varieties.
The chairperson of the committee narrated that the market has existed since 2015 due to the hard work and perseverance of the various CSOs, which is immensely laudable.
Mao is located around 105 kilometres from Imphal and the vendors themselves face a lot of problems and inconveniences when coming to sell their produces in Imphal.
The market is shifted from place to place and organised under the collaboration of various CSOs every Tuesday and Friday, Bessii said lamenting that the lack of a permanent location is a bit of an inconveniences for the Mao vendors.
However, the work done by the CSOs and the volunteers are very encouraging and laudable, the chairperson added.
Bessii explained that the hiring charge of a DI Tata for a day is Rs 5000, while that of a Sumo is Rs 4000 and a van costs Rs 3500.On the other hand, the committee has been appealing all the vendors to regularise the prices of their commodities and produces, Bessii said, appealing all to maintain this rule properly.
The chairman continued that a total of 250 vendors are registered to the committee and explained that the Mao Keithel is organised with 60-60 vendors in a rotation system.
Bessii then appealed the Government to provide a permanent site for the Mao Keithel at the earliest.
Coordinating Body Khurai spokesperson Bond Khurai appealed the people to come and visit the Mao Keithel at the community hall tomorrow.
He then urged all not to be put off by similar prices of the produces which are available in the Mao Keithel, explaining that the produces sold in the Mao Keithel are all organic
and extremely fresh.
