Imphal, September 09 2019:
BJP National president and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh left Guwahati for New Delhi today without talking with any Ministers or MLAs of the State or other stake holders on the protracted power struggle besieging the State's coalition Government led by Chief Minister N Biren.
Nonetheless, Amit Shah presided the 4th meeting of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) at Guwahati today.
The fourth meeting of NEDA was aimed at strengthening the alliance and it was attended by Chief Ministers of all the North Eastern States.
Apart from the Chief Minister, BJP Manipur Pradesh president and Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda, Ministers, MLAs and BJP Manipur Pradesh core committee members too attended the meeting.
Notably, Amit Shah invited all rebel Ministers and MLAs who have been camping at Delhi demanding replacement of Chief Minister N Biren as well as other Ministers, MLAs and the party's core committee members to Guwahati to hold separate meetings after the 4th NEDA conclave is over to explore a solution to the protracted power struggle.
Earlier, Amit Shah made an arrangement to hold separate meetings with BJP MLAs and party leaders to elicit their opinions and positions regarding the demand for change of leadership and see if the same demand is legitimate or not.
However, as soon as the NEDA conclave was over, Amit Shah left Guwahati for New Delhi saying that he has been called to an emergency meeting.
As such, he met neither party leaders, nor Ministers nor MLAs nor core committee members.
Nonetheless, some core committee members and dissident MLAs said that Amit Shah might held separate meetings with Chief Minister N Biren, Works Minister Th Biswajit and BJP Manipur Pradesh president K Bhabananda last night.
The internal tussle within the BJP has been dogging the State from April this year and Chief Minister N Biren had even stripped a key portfolio from a prominent BJP Minister while removing the Finance portfolio from an MLA of a coalition partner.
