Imphal, June 22 2018:
In connection with the silver jubilee celebration of RINDA publication, a publication along with four books were released today.
Speaking at the silver jubilee celebration as chief guest, CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam asserted that being a writer/ author, poet in Manipur is not a profitable job and cannot be regarded as a profession as there are difficulties in publishing a book as the majority of the population does not indulge in reading from books.
But nevertheless, without seeking any profit or loss, many writers and authors are continuing to write books in the interest of the State and its culture or beauties etc.
The authors and poets are responsible for recording the past, present and future, the Minister said while adding that they are doing a great service to the society.
All the books or publications should be translated into other language while other books should also be translated to Manipuri dialect, he said.
The Minister stated that there are numerous educated youths in the State but the lack of convergence and unity has put a barrier preventing the State from progressing forward.
Registrar NSU K Radhakumar said that there are minimum publishers and an even minute number of readers which result in the absence of professional writers.
"Ningshingli Matamdo" (Life story) by Thangjam Ibopishak, Ipuroiba Hallakhini (a novel, based in Thanga) by Tongbram Chandrakala Devi and Rajen Khumukcham's "Khomjinba Waree Anisuba Saruk", "Leela Dramada Meetyeng Ama" and another publication titled "The Muse" edited by Rajen in both English and Manipuri, were release during the function.
Pradhan Lamjaotongba GP, Elangbam Sushila Devi and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Birendrajit Naorem also attended the event.
