7 day basic course in news reporting concludes

The seven days basic course in news reporting, organised by State Institute of Journalism, DIPR at Lamka Press Club concluded today with a simple yet impressive function.
Speaking as the chief guest of the valedictory cum certificate distribution function, T Paukhanlian, Chairman of ADC, Churachandpur said that journalists should maintain credibility in the field of reporting.
Congratulating the trainees who have completed the course successfully, the ADC Chairman said that media should strive to deal with sensitive issues in a responsible and sensible manner.
He further cautioned the trainees and practising journalists to maintain maximum restraint on sensitive issues and avoid provocative and vulgar writings.
Instead, they should be more balanced and unbiased in their approach and should not land the public or the readers into confusion, he added.
Stressing on the importance of news and information sharing, Paukhanlian, who was also an editor of a local newsletter, said that media have great social responsibility.
He also solicited constructive suggestions from media on matters relating to district council administration.
The chief guest also distributed certificates to about 20 trainees during the function.
The programme was attended amongst others by Th Mangminthang Gangte, District Information Officer, CCpur Vicky Suantak, president of MHJU, Churachandpur branch; M Kaimuanthang, Secretary of CWRU.
