CYCLONE claim title of 3rd T Subol Memorial Veteran T-20 Cricket tourney

CYCLONE, Thangmeiband thrashed CHAMP, Khagempalli by 4 wickets today in the final to claim the title of the 3rd T Subol Memorial Veteran Cricket Tournament organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam and Langthabal Public Ground.
CHAMP which won the toss and opted to bat first, bundled out with a total score of 106 runs for 8 in 20 overs as W Surjit and Tiken of CYCLONE wreaked havoc across their batting line up.
Jodiba topped the scoring for CHAMP making a total of 27 runs in 18 balls while Babulu was able to add 25 runs before he went out in the 25th delivery.
Homeshwor and Robinson tried hard to build up the momentum for the team but failed as they went out with 20 runs and 10 runs respectively under their names to make it 106 at the end.
W Surjit enjoyed a three wicket haul in this innings while Tiken managed to dismiss two wickets.
Binoy and Bikom of CYCLONE also claimed one wicket apiece to help restrict the Khagempalli side to a meagre total.
In response, CYCLONE made a bright start with Binoy and Shyamsunder taking on the CHAMP bowlers.
Binoy hit the highest of 39 runs facing 41 balls while Shyamsunder added 33 runs in 26 balls to steer the team a comfortable zone.
Bikom also contributed 12 runs in this innings and helped his team post a total of 109 runs for 6.Tomthang was at his best in bowling for CHAMP as he managed 3 wickets while Ibobi and Jodiba claimed 2 wickets and 1 wicket respectively.
L Binoy was adjudge man of the match for his 39 runs contribution in the chase and 1 wicket feat in the first innings.
The final match cum closing ceremony of the tournament was graced by Ch Chaoba Singh, Retd Addl Director, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, VP Manipur Cricket Association; N Indrajit , president Manipur Veteran Cricket Association; Priyananda Singh, secretary, Manipur Cricket Association; A Birendra Singh, vice president, Manipur Veteran Cricket Association; RK Bidur Singh, advisor, Manipur Veteran Cricket Association and Tongbram Ongbi Romola Devi, donor of the tournament as dignitaries who also feted the participants.
Winners CYCLONE were feted with Rs 18,000 along with the title trophy while the runners up CHAMP got a cash prize of Rs 12,000 and a trophy.
Jodiba of CHAMP was adjudged man of the tournament and best wicket taker for his 154 runs feat and 11 wickets haul and was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively.
Best Batsman, Thoithoiba of CYCLONE (180 runs) and man of the final match were also feted with Rs 1,000 each.
