The students came out of their respective schools and joined in the formation of a long human chain along the Imphal-Moreh road and Tiddim road to protest the twin killings.

Students of Regular English School, BIMS, Zenith Academy, Modern English High School, Little Flower School, Glory English School, St Peter English School, New Horizon Academy, Manipur Standard School, Universal Students Academy, St John Bosco School, HRD Academy, Temple of Learning, Canchi Academy, Standard Roberth Higher Secondary School, Imphal Public School and ISHOR, etc took part in the protest demonistration.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest demostration, A Thoithoi, General Secretary of DESAM charged the people of mainland India with discrimination against people from North East and said that they often assaulted or killed the North Easterners whenever they get opportunities.
People of mainland India beat up or kills a North East student if the person is a male and committed sexual assault if the person is a female, he further charged, adding that the issue of killing Loitam Richard is being taken lightly by the mainland India.
It was only after the people of the state protested that the authorities concerned came up with certain investigations.
Moreover, the state government has taken up the issue at the Central level much later, he lamented.
Thoithoi demanded the cases of Loitam Richard and Okram Laaba should be handed over to the CBI for further investigation.
If no justice is brought to the two deceased victims at the earliest the student organisations would be compelled to take up more intense agitations including shutting down of government offices.
