A one day legal awareness camp was jointly organized by Citizen's Club, Soibam Leikai and Imphal East District Legal Services Authority at the premises of Citizen's club today.
Speaking on the occasion Ngangom Tejkumar, Public Prosecutor, Government Advocate, said that for a society to develop into a welfare state, the people of that society should be made aware of their legal rights.
There are various laws for the welfare of the people in the state and at the same time there are also various legal rights of the people.
Whenever the rights of the people are violated, they can also challenge it in the court legally.
As such the people should be made well aware of the legal rights.
For this, a number of legal awareness programmes should be conducted in the interest of the people.
He also pointed out that the women who are victims of domestic violence can also take the help of the court.
Chief Guest of the function, A Guneshwar Sharma, Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority, said that the Legal Services Authority has conducted a number of legal awareness programmes.
The Legal Services Authority also is taking up various programs to provide free legal aid to the needy.
The function was presided by RK Sadananda, President Citizen's Club and W Tonen Meetei, Judicial Megistrate, 1st Class, Manipur East was the Guest of Honour.
