Imphal, July 01 2013:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in-charge of the Home Department, has placed a detailed report of the incident in which a furious mob tried to set ablaze Churachandpur Police Station yesterday in a protest demanding strong action against the IRB personnel involved in capturing and uploading sex videos of a young couple on the internet in the House today.
Gaikhangam stated that four personnel of 1st Battalion IRB posted at Khuga Dam have been arrested by police in connection with the leaked MMS scandal and strong action has been initiated against them.
He further said that those IRB personnel would have been rewarded if they had handed over the couple, who were caught red-handed while having immoral acts inside the restricted area of Khuga Dam, to the police instead of filming and spreading the objectionable video clippings.
Gaikhangam also appealed to the people to remain calm and peaceful as the police have already taken up necessary action against the perpetrators.
Deputy Chief Minister further informed the House that the police blank fired about 100 rounds to disperse the furious mob who demanded the culprits to be handed over to them.
The mob even hurled petrol bombs to the Police Station causing fire inside the complex, but the fire was doused timely preventing the Police Station from major damages, he added.
