Imphal, July 01 2013:
United NGOs Mission-Manipur (UNM-M) has strongly condemned the alleged gang rape of a 14 years old minor girl after being kidnapped by six youths from Masjid Road here at around 4 pm on June 29 last.
In a press release of UNM-M, the minor girl was kidnapped by a group of armed youths from Masjid Road on June 29 and brutally gang raped her.
The youths came in a grey color Mahindra Bolero.
From a credible source, UNM-M learnt that one of the rapists was involved in committing rape few months back and was released on bail.
The mother of the rapist insured to hand over her son to the police at 12 noon yesterday when police visited his home, the release added.
It is also learnt that some armed people came to the house of the victim and threatened the family members to remain silent on the case.
From such environment UNM-M can conclude that the rapists are protected and allowed to do whatever they want, it continued.
The release then questioned that where from the arms are procured and whether the arms are legal or not.
If legal then how the Govt provide license to them.
In several occasions, UNM-M has repeatedly drawn the attention of the Govt to demobilize such illegal arms and monitor it with license.
However, such kind of sincere service for the human security has not been observed.
UNM-M is also deeply concerned about the illegal market of ammunition and it will be shocking if it disclose where these are sold.
The Govt needs to check whether these are leaked from Govt official stock.
We should recall the rape and murder of Satyabhama of Kakwa a few months back, and the murder of autorickshaw driver Leishangthem Deben, it stated and warned that if the angry public comes out and start the violence, it may turn into serious crisis.
The release then stated, it suspect that these actions are all well planned and strategically intervened by vested interest leaders.
The Govt has the full responsibility to protect the lives of the civilian but it failed.
UNM-M humbly and deeply urged the Govt to arrest the rapists and criminals immediately.
It is confident that Govt security personnel know the rapists and criminals.
