Imphal, July 01 2013:
While welcoming the State Government's decision to hold civil service exam every year, AMSU has appealed to the Government to relax the age bar for aspiring candidates.
The State Cabinet has already decided to recruit 91 Grade II posts through MPSC without giving any age relaxation to candidates, noted AMSU HRD secretary Manjit Sarangthem.
If the State Government sticks to its decision and hold the civil service exam according to UPSC guidelines, age limits for eligible candidates are 21 and 30 .
In this age group, general candidates are allowed to appear for the civil service exam five times and OBC candidates seven times.
Notwithstanding these guidelines, civil service exams are not conducted every year in Manipur.
In view of these lapses and the large number of educated unemployed youths seeking employment, it is advisable to relax the age bar this year.
UPSC's guidelines may be followed to the letter when the civil service exam is conducted every year regularly, Manjit said.
AMSU vice-president Sobhachandra Sanasam said that 1050 eligible students have obtained admission forms from TG Higher Secondary School.
Asking the authorities concerned to ensure that all these students are given admission, Sobhachandra urged the Government to resolve the issue of Ramlal Paul Higher Secondary School at the earliest.
