Imphal, July 01 2013:
The Yairipok rape victim has alleged that repeated recording of her statement by police regarding the incident has given mental distress to her.
Talking to reporters at her native village Yairipok, she questioned why the police is repeatedly recording her statement instead of nabbing the culprits.
She said that police is still not able to arrest the culprit although she has identified the culprit even to the Chief Minister.
Questioning whether the culprit Taj Khan is not being arrested as he is working in the State Police Department, the victim also urged the Government to nab him at the earliest.
She added that she could have not disclosed the incident out of embarrassment, however she brought it to light to avoid future similar incidents.
Convenor of the JAC constituted against the incident, Ayub Koree said, it is unfortunate that the Government has not taken up any positive action even after a State-wide general strike has been called.
The Government might be thinking that the anger of the people would cease in due course of time, Ayub Koree asserted that it would never happen.
People's agitation would continue until justice is delivered, he added.
All Manipur Muslim Girl Students' Union president Rukshar said that it is condemnable that women MLAs O Landhoni and Nemcha Kipgen and Minister AK Mirabai have not taken up the matter in the ongoing Assembly session.
The union would inform the matter to the Centre if the State Government does not take up any positive action at the earliest.
