Lectures, tree plantation drives conducted

Sajik Tampak Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted a lecture on "Drug awareness and precautions against dengue" among students and teachers of St Mary School and Sajik Tampak Government School in Chandel district on Tuesday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), a total of 30 students and 8 teachers attended the programme during which the participants were briefed about the menace of drugs in our society and its ill effects in the long term on their socio -economic as well as health aspects.
Doctors of the battalion, who delivered the lecture, informed the attendees of the prevailing dengue cases, their symptoms and preventive measures that can be adopted.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (S) organised a motivational lecture for youth on various opportunities to join Indian Army with students at Sanaikot village in Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
An interaction with students was also carried out to motivate them to utilise "Agniveer Scheme".
The benefits of the scheme in terms of post serving the Armed Forces as an Agniveer were also explained to the audience, who included 8 teachers and 200 students.
On the other hand, Keithelmanbi Battalion of IGAR (South) organised tree plantation drives at Waithou, Mayang Imphal, Keithelmanbi and Manipur University on Monday and Tuesday.
A healthy strength of locals including students of Sarita Devi Academy including Olympian boxer Sarita Devi herself, and Manipur University attended the event organised at various locations.
In all, 4500 saplings of multiple varieties including fruit and flower saplings were also distributed on the occasion so as to achieve dual purpose of environment protection and soil conservation.
Phundrei Battalion of IGAR(S) also organised a lecture on Agnipath scheme along with tree plantation drive at Irengban village in Kakching district on Tuesday which was participated by 40 youths .
