Course on Impact of Social Media' kick starts

The State Institute of Journalism, DIPR, Manipur inaugurated a two-week short term course on 'Impact of Social Media' at Jadonang Memorial College, Longmai, Noney, today.
The inaugural function was graced by Hungyo Worshang, DC, Noney District as chief guest; H Balkrisna Singh, Director, DIPR, Manipur as functional president and Ramkung Pamei, president Manipur Hills Journalists' Union and Khuigai Kahmei, Principal, Jadonang Memorial College as guests of honour.
On the occasion, Hungyo Worshang said the subject matter of the course conducted by DIPR is relevant in today's world as misuse of social media can cause unrest in the society.
"As human beings, we have the tendency to believe bad things", he said.
W Phajatombi Devi, Joint Director (IPR), Seema Sanjenbam, Course Coordinator, SIJ, Sagolsem Snehprabha, Manager of Publication and other staff of DIPR also attended the function.
The objective of the course is to spread awareness about social media and its importance in today's world.
The course will conclude on March 7, 2020.Earlier, SIJ had conducted a two-week short term course on 'Impact of Social Media', at Moreh College, Moreh, Tengnoupal from November 4 to 18,2019 .
It had also conducted a short term course on 'Basics of News Reporting' at Kasturba Girls High School, Jiribam District Headquarters on February 17, 2020 .
SIJ, since its inception in 1992, has been conducting short-term training courses, seminars and workshops in diverse fields and disciplines of Journalism and Mass Communication from time-to-time.
