Lup warns LDA from carrying out activities on Pumlen Pat, Khoidum Pat

Pumlen Khoidum Pat Kanba Apunba Lup has warned Loktak Development Authority (LDA) against taking up any activities without the permission of the locals in the surrounding areas of Pumlen Pat and Khoidum Pat.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, general secretary of the Lup S Joy maintained that the locals have been facing enough suffering due to the impact of Ithai dam which damaged over 8000 paddy fields situated at Pumlen Pat and Khoidum Pat.
Furthermore, the LDA is attempting to intervene on the two lakes which is not acceptable for the locals residing around the lakes, he asserted.
Regarding the claim of LDA that it would be cleaning Phumdis from Pumlen Pat and Khoidum Pat, Joy clarified that there are no Phumdis floating on the lakes.
He further warned LDA not to stick its nose on the lakes in the name of protection.
The lakes do not even have any connection to Loktak lake and LDA should refrain from intervening, he added.
