Training for soil & water testing lab assistant begins

Chandel, February 24 2020:
A 200-hour long skill training for soil & water testing lab assistant for rural youth of Chandel District was inaugurated today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel.
The inaugural programme was attended by Dr A Chinglenkhomba Meetei, Addl Deputy Commissioner/Project Director, DRDA; Dr Athokpam Herojit, Professor (Soil Science), CAU, Imphal and Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
The skill training will continue till March 18, said a statement of KVK Chandel.
On the inaugural function, Dr A Chinglenkhomba Meetei encouraged the youth of the district to sincerely participate in the training programme while Dr N Prakash deliberated on the urgent need for getting the soil and water tested for increasing the crop productivity.
Dr Deepak Singh, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel after giving the keynote address highlighted the scope of soil testing awareness among the youth of the district.
Dr K Sonamani Singh, SMS (Agril Engg), KVK Chandel and the course coordinator of the training programme briefed the course content and the applicability of the training programme to the trainees.
The skill training was also participated by 20 youth from the district and staff of KVK Chandel.
