Massive MR campaign begins in CCpur

As it joins the nationwide campaign to eliminate Measles and control Rubela, District Family Welfare Officer, Churachandpur is set to organise a teachers' workshop for schools under Churachandpur and Samulamlan blocks as part of Measles and Rubella campaign on March l5 and l6 at DTC hall, Tuibong.
A media workshop was conducted for local reporters today at the conference hall of DFWO with Dr Girvar S Baria, RRT World Health Organisation briefing the media persons on issues ranging from the nature of the viral to road map set by the government for its elimination.
Later in the evening, the department also hosted similar workshop for philanthropic organisations and religious leaders at the same venue.
As per official schedule, the workshop for headmasters and nodal teachers of Government and aided schools of Churachandpur and Samulamlan blocks will be held on March 15 from 11 am.
Meanwhile, a one day workshop for headmasters and nodal teachers of private, mission and ADC schools under Churachandpur and Samulamlan blocks will be held on the next day from 11 am at the same venue.
A statement issued by DFWO, Dr Jam Thianlal stated that absence of any headmasters or teachers will be taken seriously as the campaign is deemed an important National programme.
It also advised the schools who have not identified its nodal teachers for the said campaign to appoint and depute them at the workshop venue.
It further instructed the other remaining blocks namely Singngat, Henglep, Thanlon and Tipaimukh to conduct similar training before March 20.It may be mentioned that the District Task Force Immunization meeting on Measles and Rubella campaign was held on March 9 at BRGF hall, DC office, Churachandpur.
The meeting stressed on different measures to make the district free from Measles and Rubella.
The scheduled teachers training and workshop is amongst other outcomes of the meeting.
The Measles Rubella (MR) vaccine which will be administered from March 26 is aimed at eliminating the two viral diseases from the country in line with other preventive diseases the country has successfully purged from the soil of India.
The vaccination will first be done in schools and other outreach programmes before it is amalgamated with the existing routine immunisations overseen by the health department as children below the ages of 15 years are said to be the ones who are infested by the diseases, reports our correspondent.
