One Basijahan Bibi w/o Mayangmayum Jaheruddin alias Yaima (75) of Sekmaijin Khunou Konuma, Kakching district, has alleged that her husband has been detained/abducted by members of Anjuman Islahi Muah-Shah (AIM) Lilong, since February 24, after he left home for taking part in Jamaat (pilgrimage to Masjid) .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Bibi claimed that she came to know her husband was in the custody of AIM on March 2 .
She lodged a complaint to Thoubal SP regarding the alleged abduction of her husband and the complaint has also been sent to the DGP, she added.
Bibi said that it has been learned that her husband was captured by AIM members from the Masjid located at Porompat on February 24 .
It was learned that Mufti Siraj Ahmed, a key member of Darul Uloom and from Lilong Haoreibi had detained her husband, from a letter which was received by her son, Najumuddin on March 2 .
She claimed that when she approached AIM Lilong on March 3 (the next day), the members demanded her to bring Rs 4 lakh for the safe release of her husband and also warned her against informing the police about the incident.
The complaint lodged by Bibi mentioned AIM president Haji Moheiuddin (55) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Upak Thong Makha and its secretary, MV Habibula (47) of Lilong, as the prime accused and also appealed to the authority concerned for taking up necessary actions at the earliest.
