Shyamkumar inaugurates four market sheds under MIDH

Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar today inaugurated four rural and retail market sheds constructed under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur.
Minister Th Shyamkumar inaugurated the retail market sheds at Ngaranphung Village, Saikul Sub Division under Kangpokpi district and at Huikap under Andro Assembly Constituency.
He also inaugurated rural market sheds at Lamboiching under Keirao Assembly Constituency and at Kwasiphai under Bishnupur Assembly Constituency.
The market sheds were constructed with a total budget of Rs 26 lakh each out of which Rs 13.50 lakh is from the State's share.
Meanwhile, the retail market sheds were constructed with a budget of Rs 7.50 lakh each.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of Ngaranphung retail market shed, Shyamkumar said that the market shed has been inaugurated with an aim to provide a market place to the locals as markets in Imphal are congested.
He said the market shed will also help the locals to sell their locally grown produces, thus giving them a livelihood and boost their economic status.
He gave assurance to the women vendors to provide soft loans and other assistance from the State Government.
Speaking at the inauguration of the rural market shed, Chingtam Keithel at Lamboiching, Minister Shyamkumar said the visions of the State Government is to provide livelihood, generate self employment and improve economy.
He appreciated L Rameshwor Meetei for supervising the construction of the rural market sheds and helping in completion of works ahead of the target.
He further assured to provide toilets, storeroom and a cold storage by consulting with the authorities concerned in the near future.
Speaking at the inauguration of the rural primary market shed/Apni Mandi at Kwasiphai village, he appreciated the people of Bishnupur for having different work culture.
He further said another market shed will be constructed either in Toubul or Khoijuman, for which he requested the local and leaders to decide on the appropriate location.
The Minister later visited the mushroom unit at the Angtha Peruk Khunou Leikai which are grown by the Women's Farmers Association of the locality.
The association has so far sold 400 kg of mushrooms at the rate of Rs 120 per kg in the past two months.
It be may be mentioned that, the women of the association were given training on Jan 14, 2018 by the officials of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department.
The function was attended by K Robindro Singh, Deputy Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly, L Rameshwor Meetei, MLAs of different ACs, Bishnupur District Collector, K Kipgen among others.
