Army hands over projects to villagers

Imphal, March 12 2018:
Singngat Battalion Assam Rifles on March 8, handed over various projects under 'Operation Sadbhavana' to the local population.
The event was inaugurated by Ginsuanhau Zou, MLA Singngat and Chairman MANIREDA, conveyed PIB Defence Wing in a press release.
Amongst the other notable persons present at the ceremony were MDC Singngat and Lungthul.
The event started with handing over of books to school library of Hill Model High School Singngat followed by handing over of a computer and printer set to St Mary's High School Beheng and a bus waiting shed at Shelbu village.
A large numbe rof locals including chiefs from border villages attended the event wherein a cultural performance by the students of Singngat as well as Assam Rifles was performed.
In order to capitalise on the huge gathering, the unit hospital in collaboration with PHC Singngat conducted a deworming cum medical awareness programme for 1374 individuals aged between 1-19 years, it said.
The purpose of this event was to make the local population equal stake holders in the growth story of the Nation.
The attendees were apprised of various employment opportunities through a career counseling cell established during the event along with distribution of Rs 45,000 as scholarship programme for under privileged and physically challenged students from six schools under various categories from Singngat.
