State set to manufacture 4G equipment set

The State's Information Technology Department has joined hands with South Korean company EUCAST for manufacturing 4G equipment in the State which would be used in the Indian telecom sector, according to the department's Additional Director N Deben.
Speaking to media persons at DIPR complex, Moirangkhom here today, N Deben said that a testing centre would be set up at Mantripukhri for the 4G equipment which would be manufactured and/or assembled in the State.
A list of machinery and equipment which would be installed at the testing centre has been received from EUCAST and HIT Manipur has been entrusted to purchase the necessary equipment and the State Government would bear the expenditure.
During the North East Development Summit held at Imphal in November last year, an MoU was signed among the State Government, IIIT Manipur and Ugra University for setting up a cyber security centre at IIIT Manipur.
Now due process has been initiated to translate the MoU into action, Deben said.
The special economic zone being developed by IT Department at Mantripukhri is nearing completion and the department has been working for the growth of both software and hardware industries in the State.
The IT Department has been providing online service to 35 departments of the State Government.
Application forms for exams conducted by MPSC can now be obtained and submitted online, said the Additional Director.
