PPP mechanism worked out for Henbung check post

In view of the failure of Henbung taxation check-post to collect taxes to the expected quantum because of certain shortcomings, the State Government is charting out a new mechanism in order to run the check post under public-private partnership (PPP) model, stated Chief Minister O Ibobi who is also in charge of Finance Department.
Taking part in discussing the Manipur Appropriation No 3, 4, 5 and 6 Bill 2013, Ibobi stated that on learning about the lapses and shortcomings of Henbung check post, the State Cabinet has already discussed about the possible remedial measures albeit informally.
The department concerned has suggested the Government to adopt PPP model for running the check-post effectively and the Government is examining the possibility of translating the same suggestion into action.
The Government has been working to construct a new building, install new equipment and deploy adequate strength of security forces so that the taxation check post can perform to its full potential.

To monitor the practice of giving peanut salaries to employees of private hospitals, schools and hotels which are earning huge profits, a high level committee would be constituted very soon, Ibobi informed the House.
After checking the hygienic level of chicken centres and fish shops of Imphal city and greater Imphal areas, the chicken centres and fish shops would be issued permits along with consulting MAHUD and IMC.
The Chief Minister further gave his words to check the feasibility of accommodating all the chicken centres and fish shops at one particular place.
Noting that most of the hotels of Imphal city use water from Kangla Pat, Ibobi stated that the Government would look into the matter and see what can be done to check such unhygienic practice.
Talking about the royal palace, Ibobi claimed that the Government has been working to preserve and develop the royal palace under the Historical Monument Act without even slightly encroaching upon the customary rights of the royal family.
Education Minister M Okendro clarified that around 6000 students enrolled in different schools of Chandel district were barred from giving HSLC Exam 2013 as allowing them to sit for the same exam could have diluted all the efforts aimed at bringing quality education for majority of them turned out to be residents of the valley.
Exam fees collected from these students were reimbursed.
Opposition Members Th Shyamkumar, L Ibomcha and Dr I Ibohalbi gave many suggestion and observations while discussing the appropriation Bills.
