Professor N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS notified on Monday that asymptomatic patients undergoing surgical/non-surgical invasive procedures including pregnant women in/near labour who have been hospitalized for delivery should not be tested for COVID-19 unless warranted or symptoms develop.
Further, the Medical Superintendent shared that RT PCR test for admissions, investigations etc will no longer be compulsory with immediate effect.
However, a negative RT PCR/Truenat report valid for 72 hours will still be mandatory for admission in Neuro/Trauma ICU, the notification added.
It may be noted that the notification was issued after a meeting on March 7 at the office chamber of the Medical Superintendent, RIMS and as per the revised advisory issued by the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur on February 18 about COVID-19 Testing Strategy.
