Imphal, July 02 2014:
Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-Ghqs) has threatened to impose a 72-hour bandh on the National Highways of Manipur with effect from the midnight of July 6 if the Government fails to terminate the service of 7th IRB Commandant KC Lukho within this given deadline.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, TSA-Ghqs general secretary James Haokip said that KC Lukho has failed to show any concern after his convoy allegedly knocked down an Alto car between Koirengei and Khonghampat on June 16 .
Contending that six persons including a three-year-old child, who were travelling in the said car, were injured in the mishap, James Haokip condemned KC Luko for not showing any concern to the incident.
As the Commandant refused to heed to the demand for repairing the damaged car and extend monetary help to the treatment of the victims, TSA clamped a 24-hour bandh on National Highways on June 28, he said.
He said that a 72-hour bandh would be clamped on NH-2, NH-102, NH-37 and NH-150 if the authority concerned fails to terminate KC Lukho from his service within July 6 .
James Haokip also urged all the civil society organisations of the State to extend support and cooperation to the bandh.
