Protesters injure woman

A middle aged woman received severe injuries on the head after ILP protesters allegedly attacked the vehicle she was travelling in.
According to Khurai Nandheibam Leikai pradhan Y Chitra Devi, Moirang Kampu gram panchayat pradhan L Indira Devi along with five other were taking a patient (Kh Boby, 35) to JNIMS hospital on August 16 at around 10.30pm when the incident happened.
They were stopped near JNIMS gate by a group of protesters who were blocking the road.
Without proper questioning, the protesters allegedly vandalised the vehicle they were travelling in (Bolero) and started thrashing and ill mouthing the occupants.
One of the occupants, L Indira Devi received severe injuries in the head and shoulder while the others sustained minor injuries.
They were admitted at Raj Medicity Hospital the same night.
Indira has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital owing to the head injury.
She also received a severe fracture at the shoulders, the Nandheibam Leikai pradhan said.
Indira is likely to undergo a major operation of the head.
Khurai kendra pradhans and members have expressed strong resentment over the attack.
The ILP supporters, they said, should exempt should medical and other emergencies from their protests.
Urging ILP supporters to interrogate commuters before acting, they appealed the same not to repeat the act in the future.
