Imphal, August 18 2015:
Herbert School's authority has expressed regret over the incident that occurred at the school yesterday.
In a statement, principal of Herbert School, Changangei said that students of the school have been participating in ILPS demand agitation.
Schools have suspended classes for the last one and half months and some students have made the supreme sacrifices during the course of the movement.
The school authority, in the interest of the hostellers, who are denied private tuition outside as many others do, arranged interaction sessions for about 2 hours a day, the principal said.
Unfortunately, in the morning of Aug 17, a group of students said to belong to Joint Students' Union of Govt Higher Secondary Schools made a frontal attack causing extensive damages to the school building and furniture.
This could have been avoided through a formal talk.
Expressing regret over the incident, the school authority pledged to support the movement under the able leadership of JCILPS.
