ICOP on 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Covid-19' held

Imphal/Senapati, March 16 2022:
A one day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and COVID-19" was organised by Regional Outreach Bureau, Imphal under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India at Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School, Imphal today.
During the programme, various topics were discussed including the 1st Nupi Lal of 1904, 2nd Nupi Lal of 1939, Kuki Rebellion of 1917, contributions of Hijam Irabot, Jadonang and Rani Gaidiliu, Manipuri Prince Sana Chahi Ahum @ Narendrajit Singh who joined the 34th Native Infantry to fight against the British during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, leadership of M Koireng Singh in providing daily ration to the INA at Moirang during the Second World War and Covid Appropriate Behaviour, said a release issued by ROB Imphal.

Later, an on the spot quiz contest was held and prizes along with certificates were distributed to the students.
Similarly, Field Outreach Bureau, Senapati also organised an ICOP with two-days photo-exhibition on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and Covid-19 awareness at Mount Everest College, Senapati District on March 14-15 .
It was attended by Nongthombam Suran Singh, SDO/BDO, Willong Sub-division; Meithuanlungpou Gonmei, principal Mt Everest College, Senapati; and Roshan Shagolsem, academic dean Mt Everest College as presidium members, said a release issued by FOB Senapati.
Dr Ng Peter, District Immunization Officer, Senapati and Alen Chiru, associate professor of Political Science Department, Mt Everest College also took part in the programme as resource persons.
In her keynote address, Waribam Urmila, Field Publicity Officer, FOB Senapati stated that Field Outreach Bureau is the field publicity unit of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and that the unit goes to various schools, colleges and villages to organise programmes on different schemes and policies of the central Government from time to time.
She also mentioned that the ICOP was organised to celebrate 75 years of India's independence and pay tribute to the unsung heroes who contributed in the freedom struggle and also to create awareness on Covid-19 .
Dr Ng Peter urged the students to convince their parents about the need to get vaccinated against covid-19 to prevent a severe form of the disease.
He mentioned that the vaccine has been scientifically proven to help in fighting Covid and assured that there is no vaccine without side-effects but with time and proper treatment, side effects are reduced and minimized.
N Suran Singh stated that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was launched by the Government of India on August 15, 2021 and will continue for 75 weeks till August 15, 2023 .
Within these 75 weeks, a series of events will be conducted to commemorate India's 75 years of Independence, he said while encouraging all to contribute for the betterment of the Nation.
Alen Chiru spoke on Indian Freedom Struggle during the colonial rule with special focus on local unsung heroes like Bir Tikendrajit, Paona Brajabashi, Rani Gaidinliu and Haipou Jadonang.
Besides, a two-days photo exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was also organised as part of the ICOP wherein 40 photos including 10 photos of local unsung heroes who contributed to India's freedom struggle were exhibited.
M/S The Thang-ta Cultural Research Academy, a Private Registered Troupe (PRT) under ROB Imphal also performed "Thang-ta" at the event.
