DC visits interior villages

Thingba Khunou, November 13 2014: Senapati DC Jacintha Lazarus on Tuesday reached out to the villagers of interior Thingba Khunou, Thingba Khullen and Oinam hill under Purul sub-division.

Travelling along the dusty and pathetic Maram-Purul-Oinam road, the DC along with DRDA officials, Chief Medical Officer Dr Loli Mao and others reached Holy Cross School at Thingba Khunou village and graced its Annual Day function.

Speaking at the occasion, Jacintha Lazarus encouraged the students to work hard.

She said that the students must not discourage themselves just because they are educated in rural areas.

She said, "You have proved your mettle in the recently held District Level Literary Meet wherein your school was adjudged the best performing school defeating other urban schools" .

The DC while mentioning the responsibilities of teachers and parents urged the villagers to send their children to school.

Jacintha along with officials also inspected schools and Primary Health Centers at Oinam hill, Thingba Khullen and Thingba Khunou villages.

She checked the midday meal documents, attendance registers of the PHC and Government schools.

Interestingly, the DC was impressed with the functioning of the Government High School at Oinam hill village which is managed by Village Board and Headmaster.

She also inspected the MGNREGS works implemented in these villages.

Notably, the DC visited most of the interior villages to inspect MGNREGS works, Government schools, PHCs, Govt projects and others.
