KRF cadres nabbed : Blockade imposed on NH 27 against killings of two labourers

Imphal, May 13 2015 : People in several areas in general and Patsoi in particular who have taken strong exception to the killings of two labourers and brutal torture of a 12 years old Class 6 student have imposed NH 37 blockade in protest.

In a public meeting held on Wednesday six resolutions were taken and one prominent is the continuance of the blockade till actions are taken up and the culprits publicly punished.

Two labourers Moirangthem Dayanand of Patsoi III and Maibam Premanand of Haorung Keirang were labourers engaged in iron wielding at Mapao Khullen in Senapati district.

Konthoujam Bishwal, 12, is a student of class 6 of Needy Home Academy.

He is staying at the house of his grandmother.

The two labourers were among those who are undertaking some construction works in the school.

The accused KRF cadres under police custody

Police say that on Sunday all three of them had strolled out.

On the way back they were accosted by about 20 armed persons who identified themselves as cadres of the Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF), a signatory to the Suspension of Operations.

They were bludgeoned with sticks all the while asking them whether they are KCP linkmen or not.

They denied and identified themselves as labourers and a student.

However Bishwal said that they were detained and tortured for two days.

They eventually succeeded in forcing the two labourers to "admit" that they were KCP informers and their statement was tape recorded.

They later played the tape before some persons who had come to take charge of Bishwal to "prove" that the two labourers are KCP activists.

The seriously wounded student who was brought to Imphal is recuperating in a hospital and he sustained serious injuries.

On hearing the news the Assam Riffles and police raided designated camp at Thingshat near Motbung in Senapati district on Tuesday night to arrest 8 cadres of the KRF.

The armed cadres had broken camp and the 8 unarmed persons who were nabbed were merely house sitting there.

No weapons were found.

However on the basis of information provided by these arrested cadres police could locate the makeshift grave yard and exhumed the two bodies which bore signs of merciless torture injuries.

These are deposited in the mortuary.

The activists are saying that they will not claim these bodies till the culprits are accounted for.

A public meeting was also held during which representatives of the AMSU, AMUCO, DESAM, UCM and others were present.

MLAs of the nearby constituencies, AK Mirabai of Patsoi and Devendra of Sekmai also came.

They clarified that they had come as the MLAs of the areas and had nothing to do with the government.

They pledged to extend all assistances to the people.

The meeting demanded arrest and identification of the culprits within two days.

Till they are accounted for the bodies shall not be claimed.

The JAC is demanding a government clarification within two days.

Meanwhile, the blockade along NH 37 shall continue.
