Okendro calls for collective effort to fight drug problem

"It is better for all those are thinking of getting rich from drug trade to die instead of allowing them to live.
They are the untouchables and scourges of the society", Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has stated.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the centenary observation of the academic awareness programme on prevention of drug abuse and illicit trafficking, which is being spearheaded by All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA), at Comet School, Changangei Uchekon here today, Okendro said that no one should support or feel compassion for the drug smugglers.
Observing that the problem of drugs in Manipur is a serious issue that needs to be tackled urgently before the entire younger generation falls into the death trap, the Minister advised the students to stay away from drugs, saying that prevention is better than post-mortem.

Lauding the efforts being made by AMADA in this regard, Okendro also called upon the people for concerted efforts to fight against the problem of drugs in Manipur for once and all.
Presided over by President of AMADA Head office, the observation function was also attended by Principal of Comet School Kh Ibocha as Guest of Honour.
On the occasion, SP NCB, Imphal RK Ibungosana; Lecturer in LMS Law College Dr S Dilip Dr H Angomcha of Bishnupur District Hospital respectively delivered lecture on the topics of 'Drug abuse-prone to young students and its remedy', 'Illicit drug trafficking' and 'Effect of Psychotropic drugs in the body' as resource persons.
The lecture was followed by interaction between the participants and the resource persons.
Appreciating the correct answers given on the topics under discussion, Minister Okendro rewarded three participants namely Th Sushma, Sanuka Nameirakpam and K Punshiba.
