According to evicted families, poor people who have been residing at both the sides of NH-2 since past 100 years have been rendered homeless.
They have nowhere to go but to stay on the highway, they added.
Saying that they do not have any objection in Government's plan of highway expansion, the evicted villagers requested the Government to allow them to build houses at the remaining space on nearby hill areas.
They said that families residing between Ushoipokpi and Tangjeng were evicted from Waithou lake area during former Chief Minister Alimuddin's tenure.
They said that they would initiate various forms of intense agitations in case the State Government does not listen to their request.
