Jiribam, September 06 2018:
Deeply concerned with the inconveniences faced by the people due to absence of District Transport Office at Jiribam, International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA), Jiribam Branch and Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), District Council on Thursday demanded establishment of a DTO at Jiribam at the earliest.
The people of the district have been facing inconveniences when procuring transport related documents such as driver's license and others, said IPSA, Jiribam president K Ibomcha.
This was stated by him during a joint press meet at the office of IPSA, Jiribam branch today.
K Ibomcha Singh said that the organization has not received any positive response from the Government despite its appeal for establishment of a District Transport Office (DTO) at Jiribam district on June 28 this year.
Speaking to media persons, KSA District Council, president L Bonson Singh conveyed that the absence of DTO in the district is an embarrassment for the whole State and added that KSA and IPSA "totally" condemn the "silence" of the authorities concerned.
Lack of DTO at Jiribam even after it became a full fledged revenue district is quite unfortunate, he said and lamented that people still have to visit Imphal for procuring a simple driver's license.
IPSA, Jiribam branch and KSA District Council along with the general public is "ready" to launch intense agitation if the Govt failed to establish a DTO at the earliest, cautioned the organisations denouncing State Govt's "apathy" towards the district.
The press meet was attended by K Ibomcha Singh, president, IPSA, Jiribam branch, L Bonson Singh, president KSA, District Council, M Nungshithoiba Singh, vice president IPSA, Jiribam branch, G Ibohal Sharma, finance secretary, IPSA, Jiribam branch and Y Chalamba Singh, vice president, KSA, District Council.
