Imphal, September 06 2018:
Seven days have passed but altogether 127 loaded LPG bullet TTs still remain unloaded at Sekmai bottling plant.
LPG transporters have been refusing to unload LPG from bullet TTs demanding absorption of all bullet TTs which applied for the general tender held for engagement of additional LPG bulk transporters.
With IOCL refusing to yield to their demand, the All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters' Association launched the ongoing agitation from August 31.Around 300 bullet TTs applied for the general tender held recently by IOCL for engagement of additional LPG transporters.
Out of them, IOCL decided to engage 230 bullet TTs.
Subsequently, the All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters' Association approached IOCL repeatedly to absorb the other bullet TTs which have been rejected.
Many of the bullet TTs which have been left out were earlier engaged in transporting LPG to the State.
The All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters' Association has been contending that all the left out TTs will remain idle and useless unless they are also absorbed.
On account of the LPG transporters' agitation of not unloading LPG from bullet TTs, LPG distributors have suspended distribution of LPG to public.
Many people have been already hit by LPG scarcity and a domestic LPG refill of 14.2 Kg capacity is now sold at Rs 1500 in black markets.
The situation is rather ironic considering the fact consumers have started facing scarcity of the essential commodity while a large number of loaded LPG bullet TTs stand at Sekmai bottling plant.
The situation demands immediate attention of the State Government, IOCL and other authorities concerned.
In the meantime, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam talked with the IOCL's Imphal Divisional Sales Office Manager, Sekmai Bottling Plant Manager and LPG transporters this morning.
Another round of meeting would be held tomorrow together with IOCL's Guwahati office DGM (LPG in-charge) Bimol Pathak at Imphal.
