Imphal, January 20 2021:
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Sciences (PDDUIAS), Utlou is not part of any political party.
Dr RK Imotomba said this today at a press meet held at the administrative office of PDDUIAS at Utlou.
He said that MLA N Loken had made some statement which would paint a very different image about KVK and PDDUIAS other than what it stands for in a public meeting held at his residence on January 17 .
He told the media that KVKs can be established by Government or Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) by providing 25 acres of land at a place having power supply, water supply and road connectivity by entering into an MoU with Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
The KVK in Utlou was established by Utlou Joint Farming Pisciculture cum Cooperative Ltd after signing an MoU with ICAR in 2003 and there was no proposal from either the Government or other NGOs for establishment of KVK at Bishnupur district during that time, he added.
He also said that the staff of KVK Utlou are appointed by experts of ICAR and the number of sanction posts is only 16.Regarding PDDUIAS, he said, the institute was established by Utlou Joint Farming Pisciculture cum Cooperative Society Ltd as promoter with an aim to establish an institute for studying agriculture and allied courses and there are currently seven schools under the institute.
Dr RK Imotomba added that the donors of required land for the establishment were given a seat in the management board of the institute and it was also prevalent in many other institutes to appoint people recommended by the board members.
However, it would be not right to say that the management board are given free hand in appointing and creating any post in the institute, he further clarified.
He added that the chairman of PDDUIAS, Th Chaoba, former MP, is now a retired politician so he urged all not to drag KVK and PDDUIAS, Utlou into any political scuffle in future.
