The Thingjang Village authority, Saikul subdivision has denied the allegation levelled by Khonbal Tangkhul village while terming the allegation as baseless and false.
In a statement, Thingjang VA secretary, Khupmang Simte said that Thingjang existed at its place since time immemorial while pledging that it would not tolerate any attempt to tarnish the good image of the village chief by blowing their own trumpet to hide their evil acts of burning huts and damaging standing crops.
With regard to levying tax, the rightful owner always imposed tax on his land as such their request to abandon tax collection in Thingjang land cannot be entertained, the statement said.
It further appealed the Khonbal villagers to compensate the loss of farmers and admit their wrongdoings as a good citizens so as to create conducive atmosphere to live as good neighbours.
