'No equal benefits between tribals in hill and valley'

Imphal, June 18 2013:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in-charge of Tribal Development, has categorically stated that there cannot be equal benefits between tribals living in hills and those residing in valley areas.
He was responding to a query raised by MLA Khumukcham Joykishan during Question Hour of the ongoing 5th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today.
MLA Joykishan asked whether all tribal people including those in valley areas are covered by various welfare schemes and programmes of the government.
Gaikhangam replied that the tribal people in valley areas also get the benefits of several schemes, but their benefits cannot be equal with those tribals living in the hills.
Replying to MLA Nunghlung Victor's question, Education Minister M Okendro said that 63 faculty posts have been created for United College, Chandel.
Answering to another query of MLA L Nandakumar, Minister Okendro stated that extension buildings for 901 schools under SSA and 55 schools under RMSA have been constructed in Imphal West district.
Further replying to MLA Dr I Ibohalbi, Okendro said that 11 ITIs are still functioning with 105 regular staffs.
