June 18 condolence raised in State Assembly

Imphal, June 18 2013:
MLAs Kh Joykishan and L Ibomcha raised an issue for observing two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the June 18 victims during Zero Hour of the ongoing 5th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today.
The MLAs contended that Members of the House can observe condolence during Zero Hour in accordance to Rules 37 and 351 of the Parliamentary Proceedings.
However, Speaker Th Lokeshwar asked for assent of the House in this regard.
The Leader of the House, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that condolences can be held during Zero Hour in case of emergency of the country.
June 18 observation began from 7 am while Assembly sitting started from 11 am.
So, there was enough time in between for any member to pay floral tributes at Kekrupat if they wished, he noted.
The issue was closed after Ibobi's observation in the House.
MLA Anand further raised the issue of halting construction works of Integrated Check Post at Moreh at the demand of Myanmarese authorities.
He said that there is an urgent need to settle the boundary disputes with Myanmar at the earliest.
