Thang-Ta Day celebration continues

As a part of the Thang-Ta Day celebration month, an awareness programme under the theme 'Thang-Ta for Social Change' was held at Kakwa Makha Nameirakpam Leikai Lampak Pukhri Mapal Yumjao Lairembi community hall, Thongju Part II today.
The awareness programme has been jointly organised by Chinga Lairembi Thang-Ta Academy, Thongju and Halley English School, Soibam Leikai under the aegis of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts And Culture Society (KIMACS) and Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee, said a press release issued by Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee.
Today's programme was graced by Nameirakpam Kanol Chanu, Pradhan, Thongju Gram Panchayat, Thoudam Inaomacha Devi, president Yumjao Lairembi VLF, Ahongshangba, Naoba Singh, Upa Pradhan Thongju Gram Panchayat, Thingujam Sharmila, Ward member, Ningthoujam Ajitkumar, president KIMACS, Leitanthem Dhamendro and Takhellambam Parijat, advisors KIMACS as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest of the occasion, Nameirakpam Kanol Chanu lauded the efforts of organisations like KIMACS which have been striving for the upliftment of the indigenous art forms such as Thang-Ta to ensure that the youths of today learn the various useful tactics of this art form for their own benefits and for the society as a whole.
She further urged the girls to learn the Thang-Ta art form in order to protect themselves.
Also she called for collective efforts from all to safeguard the various indigenous artforms of the State.
